Video 2: Benefits of Cover Crops

Cover crops help keep living roots in the soil throughout more of the year, supporting the biological processes that build healthy soils.

In this video, learn how cover crops can improve soil structure, increase water infiltration, reduce erosion, and help keep nutrients in place. Cover crops can also help reduce nutrient losses to groundwater and surface waters while supporting long-term soil productivity.

Minnesota farmer Alex Udermann shares his experience incorporating cover crops into his operation and discusses some of the benefits he has observed firsthand.
